OCR — optical character recognition — is the step between “I have a picture of text” and “I have text I can edit”. Usually it means a desktop app, a website with upload forms, or a phone app with its own account. In Telegram it is one message: you send an image to @image_to_text_free_bot, and the reply is the text from that image, formatted as it was on the page.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of OCR does the bot use?
A modern AI vision model rather than a classic template-based engine. In practice that means it copes with photos taken at an angle, mixed fonts, low contrast and text mixed with graphics much better than older OCR tools, and it understands the layout well enough to keep lists and tables readable.
Does it work in Telegram Desktop and Telegram Web?
Yes. The bot is a normal Telegram chat, so it works on every official client. Drag an image into the chat on desktop, or paste a screenshot from the clipboard.
Can it recognize tables?
It returns the table as text with one row per line and columns separated by spaces, which pastes cleanly into a spreadsheet. Complex merged cells may need a small manual tidy-up.
Is there a limit on image size?
Telegram allows images up to 20 MB when sent as a file. Sending as a regular photo compresses the image, which is fine for normal text; for very small print, send the image as a file to keep the original resolution.
