A scan is an image pretending to be a document. To edit it, quote it or search it, you need the text — and the quickest way to get it is to send the scan to @image_to_text_free_bot in Telegram. The bot reads the page and returns the text with its paragraphs, headings, lists and tables laid out as on the original, in any of 100+ languages.
Send scans as files (paperclip → File) rather than as photos: files are not compressed by Telegram, so small print, footnotes and dense tables stay sharp. JPG, PNG and WebP scans all work, as do photos of a page taken with a phone. A multi-page document is sent one page per image; each page comes back as its own message, in order, ready to paste together.

Frequently asked questions
Can I send a PDF?
Not directly. Open the PDF, export or screenshot the page you need as an image, and send that image. Each page is one use.
How do I convert a multi-page document?
Send the pages as separate images, in order. The bot answers each page with its text; copy them into one document.
Will the formatting be preserved?
Paragraphs, headings, lists and table rows are kept as text. Fonts, colours and page layout are not, since the output is plain text.
What resolution should a scan be?
Any ordinary scan (150–300 dpi) is more than enough. Send it as a file so Telegram keeps the resolution.
