The fastest way to get text out of an image on a phone is not an OCR app: it is the messenger that is already open. Share the image to @image_to_text_free_bot in Telegram — from the gallery, from another chat, or straight from the camera — and the text arrives as a message a few seconds later. It works on Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS, Linux and in the browser.
Formats: JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos, sent either as a photo or as a file. A photo is compressed by Telegram before it reaches the bot, which is fine for ordinary text; for small print, dense tables or a full page, send the image as a file (paperclip → File) so the bot sees the original resolution. Several images sent together as an album are read as one batch and come back as one text, each image counting as one credit.
For the best result, fill the frame with the text you need, keep the camera roughly parallel to the page, and avoid strong shadows across the text. If a page has several columns or blocks, cropping to one block at a time gives cleaner reading order. The bot keeps line breaks, bullet points and paragraph spacing, so what you copy looks like what you photographed.

Frequently asked questions
Photo or file — which should I send?
Photo for everyday images: fastest and good enough for readable text. File when the text is small or the image is large (a full page, a dense table), because Telegram does not compress files.
Can I send several images at once?
Yes. Select several images and send them as an album; the bot reads them in order and returns one combined text with photo markers — also available as a DOCX or PDF file. Every image counts as one credit.
The text came back in the wrong order — why?
Usually the image contains several blocks (columns, sidebars, captions) and the reading order is ambiguous. Crop to the block you need and send it again, or send the image as a file for extra resolution.
Does it read text from an image in another chat?
Yes — forward the message with the image to the bot, or open the image, tap Share and pick the bot. The original chat is not affected.
