Frequently asked questions
What is an image to text Telegram bot?
A bot inside Telegram that does OCR (optical character recognition): you send it an image containing text, and it sends back that text as an ordinary message you can copy or forward. The bot is @image_to_text_free_bot; it needs nothing installed beyond Telegram itself.
Is it free?
Yes. Every user gets 5 images per month free, and the counter resets each month. If you need more, you can buy a package once (from 20 ⭐ for 10 images), or get 3 more free images by watching a short ad when one is available. There is no subscription.
Do I need to register?
No. Open the bot, press Start, choose a language and send an image. The bot never asks for an email, a phone number or a password — your Telegram account is all it needs.
Which languages can it read?
More than 100, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese and Korean. Mixed-language images work too. You do not need to pick the language: it is detected automatically.
Are my images stored?
No. Images are processed on the fly to extract the text and are not kept on our servers. Only technical metadata (such as timestamps) is retained briefly for troubleshooting. See the privacy policy for details.
Does it work on a computer?
Yes, anywhere Telegram runs: Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS, Linux and Telegram Web. Your chat with the bot, including all extracted text, is synced across devices.
Can I send a PDF?
Yes. Send a PDF of up to 100 pages and 20 MB — digital or scanned. The bot reads it page by page and returns the text as one message or file, with page markers. Each page is one credit; if you do not have enough, you can process the first pages now and continue later. Password-protected PDFs need the protection removed first.
Can I get the text as a Word file?
Yes. Under every result there are buttons for TXT, DOCX (Word) and PDF. Long results can also arrive as a file automatically — pick the default with /format.
Can it summarize the text?
Yes. Tap Summary under any result for a short digest in your interface language. It also works for text you paste or a .txt file you send. A summary costs one credit; very long texts a little more.
How accurate is it?
For printed text on a sharp, well-lit image the result is usually letter-perfect, including numbers and punctuation. Blurry photos, very small text or unusual handwriting reduce accuracy; cropping the image to the text you need helps most.
