Screenshots are where text goes to become unselectable: a message someone sent as an image, an error dialog, a slide from a lecture, a product description in a story, a paragraph in an app with copying disabled. Send the screenshot to @image_to_text_free_bot and it comes back as normal text you can paste into a search box, a document, a translator or a reply.
Screenshots are the easiest input for the bot because the text is already sharp and straight. Light and dark interfaces both read fine, as do small captions, emoji-laden chats and code snippets (indentation is preserved as far as the layout allows). On desktop you can paste a screenshot from the clipboard directly into the bot’s chat; on a phone, share it from the screenshot preview.
Long scrolling screenshots work as long as the text is still readable at its natural size; if a screenshot is very tall, two halves give a better result than one squeezed image. The bot keeps the line breaks and message boundaries, so a screenshot of a conversation comes back as a readable transcript rather than one run-on line.

Frequently asked questions
Can it read code from a screenshot?
Yes. Code comes back with its lines and indentation, ready to paste into an editor. Double-check characters that look alike in some fonts, such as l, 1 and I.
Does it work with dark-mode screenshots?
Yes. Light text on a dark background reads as reliably as the reverse.
What about a screenshot in another language?
Any of 100+ languages, detected automatically — including a screenshot that mixes languages, such as a chat with messages in two of them.
How do I copy text from a screenshot on desktop?
Open the bot’s chat in Telegram Desktop, paste the screenshot (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V), send, and copy the text from the reply.
